Unique approaches to addressing time-variable gravity from GRACE |
Abstract:
Our investigation involves innovative methods to recover information from the GRACE intersatellite measurement. In particular, we focus on the estimation of local gravity parameters, which represent departures from the mean gravity field at very well defined locations. We explicitly estimate the mass of water in 4 deg x 4 deg blocks (wrt a reference field) over test regions every ten days where we use only the KBRR data. We describe this procedure and show the results for analysis of the Level1B data from July 2003 to July 2004. The mascons are compared to independent solutions derived from spherical harmonics (on a monthly basis) and to hydrology models.
