OVERVIEW

The GRACE mission Programmatic Science Team Meeting will be a mix of moderated discussions on specific themes, and contributed presentations on various subjects. The format of the moderated sessions is the responsibility of the respective conveners. The contributed abstracts will be organized by subject, and delivered as either oral or poster presentations. Guidelines for contributed oral presentations and posters are given below.

The meeting will open with a Project Status session, which consists of updates on the mission status, and includes future science plans, the flight segment technical status, and status and information on the data releases from the GRACE Science Data System.

Abstracts are solicited for presentations in the following areas: GRACE Geodesy; Geophysics, Climate Science & Applications; and GRACE Follow-On and Continuity (see below for further details). Authors may submit more than one abstract. Shortly after the submission deadline, the Meeting Program will be finalized and announced.

During the abstract submission process

• All information must be entered before hitting the SUBMIT button - you cannot save information and return later to complete the submission.
  
• Mandatory information includes the author(s) names, presenter's name, paper title, abstract and presenter's email address. The submission may not include any special characters or symbols.
  

Optionally, the GRACE Principal Investigators are asked to submit their investigation title, and some text on the present status and future plans for their respective investigations. You may choose to rewrite you presentation abstract if it fits the purpose. Please use the "For PI Submissions" button at the bottom of this page.

Optional, if you have special requirements or suggestions for new data product definition, or on product accuracy, resolution or latency, we invite you to upload a 2-page (maximum) summary as a text or PDF file (preferred). SESSION DESCRIPTIONS

A. GRACE Geodesy:

A.1 Analysis Techniques: For presentations on methods, algorithms and results from GRACE data analysis and error assessments; providing insights into spatio-temporal signal content; including diverse methods of error reduction. Session Convener:

A.2 Inter-comparisons: A discussion on the inter-comparisons between various GRACE gravity time-series; assessments of the significance of the differences; and analysis of possible causes. Session Convener:

A.4 The Mean Earth Gravity Field: Results on combination, analysis and geodetic/geodynamic interpretation of complementary results from GRACE, GOCE, altimeter, and terrestrial gravity data for the next generation mean Earth gravity fields. Session Convener:

B. Geophysics, Climate Science & Applications:

B.1 Multidisciplinary Science: Some GRACE science topics do not readily fit into the categories available below. If you are unsure where your paper topics fit, please submit to this session. We will sort it out later.

B.2 Solid Earth Sciences: Studies of the GIA and the Earth's crustal structure; lithospheric and mantle properties; analyses of seismic events, etc, using the long-term mean and time-variable gravity field.

B.3 Cryosphere: This session will address the measurements of change in the Earth's ice sheets, at all spatio-temporal scales; the science advancements and open questions in the interpretation of these GRACE results; current uncertainties; as well fusion/cross-validation of GRACE data with other sensors and models. Session Convener:

B.4 Oceanography: Papers are solicited on the advances in oceanographic applications of GRACE data products, including signal interpretation and model assimilation. Other topics include, but are not limited to, the validation of data products; the studies of regional or global oceanographic processes, exploitation of GRACE data products jointly with data from other missions (such as GOCE), or other in situ oceanographic measurement systems (e.g. ARGO), etc. Session Convener:

B.5 Hydrology: Papers are solicited on advances in hydrological applications of GRACE data products, including signal interpretation and model assimilation. Papers on the assessment of hydrological trends and long-term water storage variations are solicited; as are paper reporting on GRACE data products that are optimized for terrestrial hydrology. Session Convener:

B.6 Other (non-Gravity) GRACE Applications: Papers are solicited on studies of the GRACE Radio Occultation data; Atmospheric Density and Accelerometry; and other science applications of GRACE data un-related to the gravity fields. Session Convener:

C. GRACE Follow-On and Continuity:

Discussion of the status of the GRACE Follow-On mission. Progress towards the realization, technology, simulation and error analyses of Next Generation gravity mission concepts. Topics dealing with techniques and methods for identification, characterization and assurance of continuity between GRACE and GRACE Follow-On. Potential new applications and new science.

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

Oral Presentations:

A maximum of 15 minutes, including time for questions, is allowed. Overhead (transparency) and screen (beamer) projection will be available. Your presentation must be uploaded prior to the last meeting break before your scheduled talk. Presenters will not be allowed to connect their own laptops or their flash drives at the time of their talks.

Poster Presentations:

Posters may be a maximum of 36 inches wide, and 42 inches tall. Supplies for mounting posters to boards will be available.
